How do you feel about Time Travel…stories.?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

So, I’ve had this idea for a story about time travel for awhile; but, as you can guess, with the concept of time travel there are always some difficulties when it comes to the technicalities. Since science really doesn’t support the idea of time travel at all, writers usually end up making up their own rules and sometimes really annoying or unrealistic plotholes arise.
So what I’m wondering is how far, as readers, you are generally willing to suspend disbelief when it comes to stories about time travel.
I, personally, am really not interested in explaining how such a thing would exist or getting into all the paradoxes of people messing up the course of the future. I want to write a light-hearted fantasy that explores the adventure of visiting different time periods without getting too bogged down by all the usual problems. It will definitely not be a science fiction, in fact I’ll probably just explain most of the crazy stuff with magic.
So would you be interested in reading something that doesn’t attempt to explain away the impossibilities of time travel, if it was well written, funny and exciting? How do you feel about the usual stories that deal with the time travel theme? Does this story at all sound appealing? I’d love to hear any opinions. Thanks!

It does sound appealing.

I like time-travel stories as long as they’re well done, and personally wouldn’t want pages of technical explanations of how it could have happened. All of us who read fantasies (especially those where someone from our world goes into another) and other supernatural or sci-fi books are willing to suspend our disbelief!

I would, though, give some explanation, whether it be a portal, a knock on the head, a shift in time when the protagonist visits some old place, etc. We can imagine the rest!

I’ve often wondered how someone from our time would feel if they suddenly found themselves catapulted back into, say, Medieval times – what would the smells be like, the sounds, the colours?

It sounds a great book; good luck with it!

A car has a mileage rating of 36 miles per gallon of gasoline. How many miles can the car travel on 65.0 liters?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

of gasoline ?

I did it like this, am I doing it right ?

how many gallons is 65 liters ?
1 liter = 3.785 gal

Then do you multiply 3.785 times 65.0 ?

It’s 65 liters divided by 3.785 gallons make 17.17 gallons, multiply this by 36 miles and you got the distance this car can do. 618.22 miles

Is it safe to travel to Iran right now?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

My family and I have planned a trip to Iran since about a month ago, and with the current situation there we’re beginning to think it might not be a great idea. Our tickets are for tomorrow and they’re non-refundable but if going there means putting our safety at risk we could afford to cancel our trip. Would it be really risky to travel there right now?

-just so you know we don’t plan on participating in any rallies or anything, if that affects your answers
I have both Iranian and Canadian passports and will be staying in Tehran

as you have asked this question 2 days ago ..i am not sure I can help much but I hope you haven’t come here now.

Have to travel for college interview but the airfair is $1,000 w/search engines. Is anything cheaper?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

I need to travel to Boston for a college interview on Jan 20th b/c all other days are booked. I don’t want to pay $1,000 just for the airfair, which is what expedia, hotwire, etc cost. Are there any tricks to getting a better price?

Where are you flying from? It’s so expensive because the flight is right around the corner. I would recommend checking out BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites, and save money. Good luck!

Can you do work experience in a travel agents?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

I am 15 years old and i am needing to find work experience to do in June. I was interested in travel and tourism and was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to do work experience in travel agents. I can get my own work experience or through the school. If there is anyone who knows an answer to this can they please answer this. I live in central scotland so if anyone knows if this is possible and a certain tavel agents then that would be great.
Thanks
:) xx

I don’t intend to be mean, but seriously reconsider your career choice. The travel industry (particularly travel agents) is a dying industry. Most people book their own accommodations and air fare on line directly.

where can I find travel information on Cebu Philippines?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

Would like travel information and hotel information for Cebu and surrounding islands….TY

Your best bet at info on Cebu travel stuff (places to stay, eat, what to do and see, etc.) is the Lonely Planet Philippine edition. Grab a copy and start reading it. More informative than any Cebu website I’ve checked out. Plus it includes tips on how not to get scammed and stuff to avoid, which they never mention in websites promoting the place.

How to travel to Israel without having the entry visa stamped in my Passport?

Written on February 7, 2010. Written by admin.

I am an American citizen, and need to travel to Israel. Several Arab countries will not allow you to enter their country with a Israeli visa stamped in a passport, I will be visiting 6 Arab countries later in the year. I have also heard several horror stories from people who have entered Arab countries with Israeli visas. Is there a way to aquire an Israeli visa without having it stamped in my passport.

Ask the Israeli customs to enter Israel on form AL – 17 and not having your passport stamped.

Keep this piece of paper inside your passport while in Israel and take it out when entering any Arab country.
