How much is the average travel trailer insurance rate?

Written on March 6, 2010. Written by admin.

I am interested in getting a modern (2005 +) travel trailer approx 25-28′. I wanted to know what the average rate would be to insure it. Also, is it a requirement to get it insured?
Thanks.
Please give a actual ESTIMATED rate. If I wanted an actual price, I would contact my insurace agent, but I just need an estimated rate. (California)

Ask your insurance company.

    Hi,
No it is not a requirement. You can call your Insurance Agent and they will tell you the cost to add it to your policy for when it is being pulled by your vehicle.

A travel Trailer is covered for liability (damage you cause to others) while it’s connected to your tow vehicle. If someone breaks into it and steals your property, (theft), it may be covered by your homeowner’s policy. But if it catches fire and burns to the ground, the replacement value won’t be covered unless you have a separate comprehensive policy for it.

You can go to any of the on-line insurance companies, like Geico or Progressive and they will give you a free quote, but I can tell you that it will be about in the $500 a year neighborhood.

I recently got a quote through Progressive
