How a radio signal is able to travel right around the earth?

I assume you are talking about AM radio. If you are, there are actually three signals. First is the ground wave, which hugs the earths surface. The second one I don’t remember, but the third one is the one you’re thinking of. It is called "skip". "Skip" happens when the signal leaves the tower, goes in the air and bounces off the ionesphere quite some distance away.

If you notice, this happens with AM and not FM. FM is a line of sight signal that hugs the earth’s surface until the signal reaches the curve in the earth’s surface and jumps out to space. The funny thing though is that FM just keeps going and never comes back.

    IT doesn’t. Its actually bounced around the earth. Radio signals transmitted at certain frequencies cannot penetrate the atmosphere. So the atmoshphere is used to bounce the signal across the earth. Hence Pacer Bounce systems

    Radio waves travel in a straight line. Radio towers are built at intervals to rebroadcast those wave. These radio towers are built on mountains, tall buildings, and towers to better capture the wave. One antennae tower will broadcast the waves and the next antennae tower will pick it up and broadcast it to the next tower and so on to where ever it is going. Television broadcasts are broadcast in the same fashion because they are "radio" waves as well. Radio and television waves are sent out in to space also.
