Would you still travel right now with the Swine Flu going around?
I posted a similar question a minute ago about washing your hands before touching the baby and one of the answers I got made me want to ask if you would still go on a trip that is already booked..not Mexico or anything, but to Oklahoma to see family. I mean, all we can do really is stay clean, and keep away from sick people. Would you still go? We’re driving.
I would definitely go and see family. I may delay trips that were in large crowds like Disney or something but not to visit family.

Sure, I would go. You’re no more likely to get sick there than anywhere else.

If driving, then probably yes, if it’s not to an area where the cases seem to be popping up. If it was flying, definitely not. Just keep anyone you don’t know, away from the baby, and be diligent about washing hands.

Driving to Oklahoma to see family is definitely not on the "can’t do" list. Even domestic air travel hasn’t been warned against by the CDC yet. If you’re traveling by car to see family it will be pretty easy to limit the contact with the public your baby has. And it will also be easy to remind people who are friends and family to use hand sanitizer and wash their hands before touching your LO.
I’m taking (yet another) flight with my son in a couple weeks and I’m still planning on going. My only real concern is I hate confrontation, but I might have to say something if the person behind me seems sick and isn’t coughing into their arm or a tissue.

I would probably still go if it was just to see family, but not if it was to tour any major attraction. I wouldn’t fly though (you said you were driving) and I’d take a bunch of hand sanitizer and be really careful to keep an eye on the outbreak map. I am pregnant right now and kind of paranoid, but I think it’s a little insane NOT to stay out of the way of this thing. We were going to take our daughter to the Georgia Aquarium in a couple of weeks, but now we’re postponing that until (hopefully!) this thing blows over.

The computer scenario that Northwestern University shown the other day says approximately 1720 official cases will be recorded in the US. This is techincally the end of the flu season so they will be able to deal with it better in the fall.
I would go to Oklahoma in the car I doubt there is even a remote chance that any family member has the flu right now.

My husband is on leave from Iraq on wednesday and we have a scheduled trip to Canada to meet with him.
So yes I am travelling, by plane, with my 7 year old step son and my 11 month old.
I’m just going to keep to ourselves and wash up as much as possible, the boys need to see their daddy.
Nothing would stop me from travelling to see my husband after nearly 5 months. My son couldn’t even crawl when he left and now he is walking.
