Have to travel for college interview but the airfair is $1,000 w/search engines. Is anything cheaper?

I need to travel to Boston for a college interview on Jan 20th b/c all other days are booked. I don’t want to pay $1,000 just for the airfair, which is what expedia, hotwire, etc cost. Are there any tricks to getting a better price?

When your traveling at the last minute your rates will always be very expensive. That is why they say book your flight as early as possible.
