I enjoy reading time travel stories, but I read them for the adventure, not the fake scientific explanations many authors try to give them. I read one a few years ago where the author had his main character teleporting through time & space, and spent pages trying to explain it to the reader. Boring!

It does sound appealing.

I like time-travel stories as long as they’re well done, and personally wouldn’t want pages of technical explanations of how it could have happened. All of us who read fantasies (especially those where someone from our world goes into another) and other supernatural or sci-fi books are willing to suspend our disbelief!

I would, though, give some explanation, whether it be a portal, a knock on the head, a shift in time when the protagonist visits some old place, etc. We can imagine the rest!

I’ve often wondered how someone from our time would feel if they suddenly found themselves catapulted back into, say, Medieval times – what would the smells be like, the sounds, the colours?

It sounds a great book; good luck with it!

Time travel is always a good theme for stories because of the fascination and the wide area to allow the author’s imagination. But mind you it’s not a topic that is easy to handle.

You have to first be clear and decide the following:

1. How real you want it to be?
2. what it suppose to be focus: science? fantasy? romance? thriller? historical? sad? comical?
3. Whether the protagonist can change anything?

Time travel into the future is easier than to the past, because the latter you have a lot of history stuff to be careful of.

Have you heard of the series called Doctor Who? If not, then I’ll explain quick. About an alien (that looks like a human) that can time travel. He usually has a human companion with him throughout his adventures. it is a very good series and many people watch it. I think the same would go for a well written book about it. So long as you can keep the reader interested, I don’t think the science behind it would be a huge deal. Good luck.

And who says it’s impossible? Just because humans haven’t found a way yet, doesn’t mean they won’t!

That sounds really cool, but try not to be too vague. If you just say, for example, Bam, they were 20 years into the past. It would be confusing. But I love time-travel story’s. They’re so much fun.
